About Us

Insurance Advice You Can Trust

A brokerage built on relationships, not transactions. Our job is to understand your world and make sure you're properly protected in it.

Our Story

Built on a Belief That Clients Deserve Better

James Fontaine founded Fontaine Risk Advisory with a simple belief: business owners deserve an adviser who takes the time to understand their business, challenges their risks, and advocates for them when it matters most.

Beginning his career in banking and insurance in the UK in 2009, James has built more than 15 years of experience across commercial banking, underwriting, and insurance broking. Since moving to Australia, he has worked closely with businesses across construction, manufacturing, accommodation, professional services and trade industries, helping them protect what they've built while supporting their growth.

James believes insurance should be more than an annual renewal. His approach is centred on building long-term relationships, providing strategic advice, and ensuring clients understand not just what they're insured for, but why. Whether negotiating with insurers, assisting with complex claims, or identifying emerging risks, James is committed to delivering practical advice and exceptional service at every stage.

Director & Founder

Insurance Broker | Authorised Representative

James began his career in banking and insurance in the UK in 2009, building a strong foundation across both disciplines before relocating to Australia in 2015. After years working within the Australian insurance market, James founded Fontaine Risk Advisory with a clear purpose: to provide clients with a higher standard of personal advice and risk guidance than the larger brokerages typically offer. His international background and hands-on industry experience give him a distinctive perspective — one that's practical, client-focused, and built on long-term relationships.
